I am a trial attorney at Curtis Legal Group. I have represented hundreds of injured victims and have taken jury trials to verdict against numerous insurance companies. l take pride in handling many types of injury cases, including auto, motorcycle, truck and pedestrian accidents, slip/trip and falls (“premises liability”), nursing home abuse/neglect, assault and battery, products liability and dog bites.
When you are injured in an accident, especially if it has not happened to you before, you usually have no idea what to do. You will be assaulted by calls from a “friendly” insurance adjuster who “just wants to make sure you get what’s fair.” Sounds good, right? Not really. This adjuster is not your friend, or there to help you… even if he/she works for “your company.” This adjuster has one job, and that job is to pay you as little as possible to increase insurance company profits.
That is where we come in. Our office will take the stress of dealing with the insurance company away, so all you need to do is get better.
I understand how insurance companies and defense attorneys value cases – and the things they will do to avoid paying you what you deserve — because at the beginning of my legal career I worked for insurance companies for over three years. I find working for injured victims far more rewarding.
Although I am an honors graduate of the University of Miami (FL) School of Law, I think my greatest strength as a lawyer is my ability to relate to and communicate with my clients. I am not the type of lawyer who hangs out in mahogany-lined dining clubs. I have lived in the real world. Before I became a lawyer, I delivered pizzas and woke up at 4 a.m. to deliver fish to restaurants. I have been a bartender and a waiter. I have worked on construction sites and sold used cars. I was a substitute teacher.
I am very comfortable explaining a case to you in your living room, but I take pride in my courtroom skill as well. As an example of the cases I’ve handled, I had a case against one of the “big three” insurance companies. This was a “he said/she said” red light case. The insurance company refused to negotiate for four years. They told my client she would lose at trial and that they would come after her for their costs and force her into bankruptcy. This was a serious threat, and they would have loved to do it.
I put the dishonest defendant on the stand, and in less than an hour the Sacramento County jury decided that we were right. They awarded my client over $100,000. I am not afraid to take on the big guys.
I am a native of the Central Valley. I went to high school in Modesto and college at UC Davis. I am married to Kirsten and we have three wonderful children. In my spare time I enjoy coaching my kids in baseball and soccer, working out, the outdoors, and playing softball.
I look forward to meeting you and helping you get the justice you deserve.
