Michael Ijams concentrates his practice in the areas of business formation and counseling, contract and real property law, financing transactions, complex civil litigation in state and federal courts, and creditors' representation in bankruptcy matters.
Mr. Ijams has significant experience and success in negotiating complex financing agreements, including both multi–million dollar credit lines and real estate financing. He has also successfully litigated multi–million dollar business lawsuits involving breach of contract (including Uniform Commercial Code contracts), unfair competition, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, dissolution of partnership, alter ego claims, and wrongful termination.
Beyond his many years of experience, Mr. Ijams brings an ethical and professional approach to every client, large or small.
He is a member of the California State Bar and the Stanislaus County Bar Association, and is licensed to practice law before all courts of the state of California, the United States District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, and Central Districts of California, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Ijams, a shareholder in the firm, is a Modesto native. He attended Grace Davis High School and Modesto Junior College, and his father was a long–time football coach and athletic director at Downey High School. He received his B.A. from the University of California at Davis in 1974, and his law degree from U.C. Davis in 1978 and joined Curtis Law Group in 1980.
During his lifetime of commitment to his home community, Mr. Ijams has also represented Stanislaus County and the cities of Modesto and Ceres. He is a member of the Modesto Rotary Club, the Modesto Quarterback Club, and St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
